The ever popular WhichCraft Beer Store in South Austin has opened a second location in the Mueller development. The new store, WhichCraft Tap Room & Bottle Shop, is nestled between Bribery Bakery and Italian eatery L’Oca d’Oro across from the Thinkery and boasts a new concept. Your favorite beer store is about to become your favorite beer hang out.
The new location expands on the original concept of a craft-only retail bottle shop by adding draft beer and wine, growler fills and an all new coffee program along with a spacious seating area with two large screen televisions.
So what about the beer?
The retail space will offer the same craft-only selection stocked by style with the addition of growlers to go. New for this location is the state of the art draft wall designed with regulators to control the CO2 mix for every tap and will feature around twenty-seven beers and two wines. Limited bottles will also be available for on-site consumption in addition to beer on tap. Owner Jody Reyes also has some other fun things in mind, “we don’t have a cask engine, but we do have a Randall, so we can do infusions”.
What about tasting events?
You can expect more than just your standard beer tastings at the new location. According to Reyes, “with the new tap wall, we can combine brewery tasting events with pint nights”. Geeks Who Drink trivia will take place each Wednesday and the team has a wide variety of options planned to include things like sour flights and beer and coffee pairings.
Wait, did you say coffee?
New to the WhichCraft team is Matt Payne who will be leading the coffee program, “Matt comes from the specialty coffee world and he loves beer, so he’s the perfect fit for us”, says Reyes. Using a local roaster called Austin Roasting Company, the program will include an in house cold brew, espresso and more.
